Suburb Profile - Beaconsfield


Named after a property known as "Beaconsfield" which was located in the area in the 1880's and the name was officially adopted for the Post Office on 1st August 1894. The origin is unknown, but probably named after the town in England of the same name or the Earl of Beaconsfield, Benjamin Disreali. The ex-Tory Prime Minister of England in 1881, who died in April 1882, was created Earl of Beaconsfield in 1879.
